EPS London 2023

In January 2023, just as the project was coming to an end, Catherine presented the results from experiment one to the Experimental Psychology Society at University College London.

Attendees were primarily academics, however we had a firefighter in the audience (who accessed the talk via Zoom) and it was interesting to hear their views on the level of cognitive fatigue following a fire and rescue scenario.

One topic of discussion after Catherine's presentation (aside from the challenges of conducting field research!) was the influence of experience and whether the level of firefighter experience and the amount of exposure to extreme heat can interact with the negative effects of thermal stress on cognition. This is something the team have been considering for since we started the project and we have been debating how best to accurately measure experience and exposure.
